I only came across the concept of manifesting in the last year or so. Honestly, I thought it was a bit of gibberish at the start. I couldn’t really understand how it was going to help me get the life I was dreaming of. Plus the talk of vision boards went over my head, honestly, I have zero craft skills.

However, I am now fully committed to manifesting. I have both personal and business vision boards and I love it. Yes, I’ve been converted, because I’ve learned that it is about so much more than the pretty pictures. Given the current situation, hello quarantine, it’s a great time to re-evaluate your goals for the year and make some plans for when we are all free again.

So first, what is manifesting all about?

There are different definitions, but I like to think of it as, whatever you put your focus onto becomes your reality. Have you noticed that when you want to buy a new car, you suddenly start to see that make/model everywhere? Well manifesting it about bringing something into your reality through thought, feelings and beliefs. So if you think something, feel it, believe it is real, it will be. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference from perceived reality and real life, it isn’t part of your logical mind. This is why you jump in films, even though you logically know you are safe, your subconscious mind is being given all the signals, through tense music etc, that something bad is going to happen.

A vision board is just a great way of using a visual prompt for our manifestations. It makes it super easy to see what you are going to achieve and what you want in your future. This is the reason why I like virtual vision boards so much, I can see the board at any time and I don’t have to find a place for it in my home. With that said I know some people that love having it in-front of them so they are always soaking up those vibes. Whatever works best for you. You also don’t even need the vision board, but if you are a visual person it will definitely help.

Now, the step most people leave out or forget to do. Feeling all the feelings. You have to embody that excitement, that energy, you truly have to believe it is happening. There’s no use looking at a photo of a beach and thinking, yes that looks nice. You need to feel yourself sat on that sand, feel the heat of the sun on your face. Know where you are and who you’re with, how relaxed you feel in that moment. This is where meditation comes in. Now if you don’t already meditate please don’t stop reading and think no, not for me. All you need is a comfortable position and some focus.

Meditate and focus

Get your virtual or real vision board in front of you. It’s best if you can see it all clearly without needing to move. Sit facing your board and just close your eyes for a few moments and take 3 nice deep breaths. As you breath in say the word ‘excited’ in your head. Perhaps you’ll find yourself smiling now as you can feel that excitement start to bubble inside of you. When you feel ready to do so, open your eyes and pick one image on your board at a time. When you have that image, close your eyes again and really feel what it would be like, to be there, to have achieved it. Breath in that excitement, that energy, that contentment. Do this with each of the images on your board. When you’re done just sit for a few moments and feel what it feels like to have all of it be true. How amazing is that? At the end of this, I also like to practice a little gratitude. Thank yourself for dreaming so big and actually achieving it. Thank the universe for helping you get there.

Action steps

Now there are some caveats to this manifesting malarkey. The vision boards are good, the visualisations are great, but you need action. You need to step up and show the universe and yourself, that you are committed to achieving these goals! Whether this means applying for the job, choosing the fresh fruit or joining the online dating site, you need to step up and show that you are ready and willing for the change to happen.

What is the first step you are going to take today towards achieving that image on your vision board? I’d love to know what you are manifesting or what you’re doing to get there.
